We currently own one of those Dymo label printers that use a similar cartridge with thermal tape, I decide to get this as it seems to really overcome some shortcomings of the old style printer. Frankly I’m amazed at the usefulness of this compared to the old style. Advantages of this unit are:Built in rechargeable battery.Label design is done on an intuitive app on your phone called Print Master with quick Bluetooth connectivity. I could probably also install it on my tablet too for more screen real estate This is much easier to use than the the keyboard and limited screen space on the old device. If you use a small font, you can print multiple lines on one label.Very quick setup for first use.Save your designs for quick reuse.Multiple fonts and font sizes for a variety of label designs. You will be bewildered by the choices.Prints clip art style icons on your labels too, put them along with the text for easier identification of box or folder contents.Prints a variety of optional border styles around your label text.Prints bar codes and QR codes which I haven’t yet used.Standard tape cartridge used by other manufacturers – plenty of aftermarket supplies available on Amazon, including clear and other colored tape.Honestly I used to dread turning on my old printer, knowing I had to type a similar label from scratch each time and the hunting around for special symbols, particularly an &, was always painful. It used to chew through 6 AAA batteries too, unless I tethered myself to a DC power adapterSome oddities about this device – the color, the 1950’s refrigerator color is weird, I have the blue one, and the black was not available when I got this, but I would go with black if I got to purchase again. The battery compartment is strange, there is a built in rechargeable Li-ion battery inside, which is soldered in place but it rests over a space to put 6 AAA batteries. The only way to use the AAA’s is to remove the built in battery. I’m not sure the purpose of this, is it to switch to standard AAA’s when the built in battery won’t hold a charge anymore? I can’t even see reaching the end of life of the built in battery with how often I need to use it though. I also found the tape cartridge’s a bit difficult to remove. I haven’t tried swapping it for other colors yet, but I did this regularly on my Dymo and it was very easy to do. When your label prints you have to remove and discard a black film which must transfer the ink to the label. I guess this is the same for Brother printers and others that use this tape, but Dymo does not have it. It isn’t messy though. The app does have an ad based splash screen, but you only see it once on launching.Pictures included of the battery and tape compartments.Overall, though, I love it, it makes you want to run round the house labeling everything in sight.

I wanted a smaller size label and the app makes it easy to shrink the font size down. I couldn’t read the instruction that came with it (so small!) so it was trial and error on my part. Mostly intuitive. The problem is that I wanted a thinner label size and I’m not sure that is an option with this printer. I would clearly need to purchase a smaller label but I can’t figure out from the instructions if that is possible or not and, if so, what sizes the printer accommodates. I simply used the labels that came with the printer, reduced the font print size, and cut the label down with scissors. It worked fine for me and I’ll continue. The quality of the printing is great

I’ll be honest, I haven’t had a label maker since the 90’s. I’ve missed it, but not the frustrating, time-consuming process of trying to peel that darn tape from the back. I decided to try what a modern-day label maker can do and, boy, am I impressed. I’m a certified label making fool now! It seems like every electronic gadget we buy these days comes with its own remote control. I’ve got remotes laying all over the house, plus an entire basket of them on the patio that control all the various accent lighting in the backyard. Now they are each individually labeled to indicate what they control and it’s heavenly. As for the tape peeling problem, they’ve resolved it. All you have to do is gently fold the printed label in half lengthwise and it activates a long split in the tape for you to easily grasp and remove. I’m fascinated this gadget requires no ink or toner. They call it thermal printing, but to me it’s easily explained as carbon paper; the long roll of label has an equal-sized roll of carbon paper inside it so each image is pressed from ‘fresh ink’ giving it a bold, crisp quality. And it’s instantly dry and non-smearable as soon as you use the built-in cutter. I had no idea this technology existed. I’m only using it for regular household labeling, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. After downloading the app, you can select the usual variety of fonts, sizes, styles, borders, etc., but you can also select from an endless multitude of graphics and images, including customizing barcodes and QR codes so it’s great for small business owners. I also made labels to fasten onto my label maker to serve as a sample of the various font sizes so I don’t waste tape trying to get just the right size. I saved each on the app so all I need to do is decide the desired size, then select the saved option. I also included the information I need to know to reorder the tape. The cost of this little machine is insanely low. Seems I gave about $39.99 for my 90’s label maker. And it appears you can get tape refills very affordably too, at about $17 for a 6-pack. I’m enjoying this 21st Century technology and I’m absolutely giving it 5-stars.

This device connects to Bluetooth on your phone. It doesn’t need to connect to your home WiFi, which is a really nice feature! You can print labels anywhere as long as you have your phone and label maker. The app was really easy to set up and use. It has different font options and lots of images programmed. It can even print pictures (as good as you can imagine with a heat transfer machine). It came with a roll of label tape. The tape did come out a little weird. The ink ribbon was still on top of the label. It did peel off without a problem. I printed 30 labels and there is still about 3/4 of the label roll left. I would recommend this for easy label printing without an expensive label machine! We just moved to a new house with about 100 switches, so this has been really handy. Plan to mark the circuit breaker box next.

What have I done?We lost our dymo label maker during our move a 3.5 years ago and I didn’t think my wife really missed it. I thought this would be an okay replacement and I was wrong. She absolutely loves this label maker. She loves the ease of installation, how quick it is to type and print compared to her old label maker, and the fact she can make more than just letters and shapes. I guess it was my fault to say that we can create itemized spreadsheets of what is each storage container then assign a serial number to the container that coordinates to the spreadsheet. Then a barcode can be printed from her label maker and attached to the container. Next time we are looking for something, we can just scan the barcode (I really hope this doesn’t happen, it was just a thought that escaped my mouth).

I got this as a gift for my daughter in law. I made sure it worked before wrapping it up. The app was easy to connect with the label maker. Printed some labels in moments. Easy Peasy. I went with this one because it uses drop in cartridge type replacements for the ribbon or tape. I thought that would be easiest to deal with and would make mid roll changes easier too. Pretty neat little label maker, works as advertised.

The media could not be loaded. This label maker is truly exceptional. It worked right out of the box with very little setup. This printer works, as far as I know as a thermal label printer, but it seems to do both direct thermal and thermal transfer labels, which makes it great for lots of different applications. The tape that came with it prints black on white and was preinstalled in the printer. Once I downloaded the app, I was able to print right away. I notices a black strip on the label and when I removed it the perfect printed label appeared. So this is called thermal transfer and it makes very strong and lasting labels that are heat resistant. (If you ever left your grocery store receipt in the car on a very hot day, you may have noticed it turned completely black, because the ink is in the paper and the heat activates it. That is called “direct thermal” printing, and it makes quick but heat sensitive labels.) These labels are also printed by heat, but in this case the heat melts the ink onto the label and then it is super sturdy and does not fade or scratch off and is also not heat sensitive. Now when I got a different label cartridge I noticed that it did not have a ink ribbon and that was indeed direct thermal printing, which is faster and can be printed on different mediums, such as glitter paper, but it is heat sensitive. So this printer can do both and you just need to make sure you get the right ribbon for it.One slight downside is that occasionally the ribbon cutter cut so short, that you need to open the printer and pull the label a bit for it to grab again, but it is rare.Switching tapes is super easy, just open the printer and exchanges the cartridges, no fiddling around. And finally the app is super easy to use and you can make nice little labels in no time.

This thing is awesome. Took a few tries to get it printing right but now it’s working great!

I got this for my wife because I know she’s been wanting to organize, and this has turned out to be amazing for her! She loves labeling everything now! It was really easy to set up the app and get it to print what you wanted. I love the feature that it can go up to any length so it can fit any phrase or long word without having to be crammed into a set space. The clicker that cuts the tape works well and is very nice. The tape adheres well to all the plastic bins and bags she’s labeled so far.The only thing I don’t really like is that it’s hard to find a replacement tape for it from my searching, but hopefully more options will come available as we need them.

I have two Brother label makers and I love them both the same. This one I am still on the fence about. I love all the options. However, I love the ease of grabbing my old label makers and printing out a quick label and will probably continue to do so. This one is best used for crafting and organizing. Having to open an app takes more time than I want to spend when I need a simple label, immediately. I switched the M960 tape with the tape in Brother P-touch and each printer printed fine with the other’s tape. It was a little hard to cut the brother tape while it was in the M960 but the Brother cut the M960 tape without issue. Not sure how that would work long term so I’m off to find refills for this new toy.UPDATE: (12.15.23) Found the link for the tape and was pleased to see that the tape is compatible with certain Brother P-Touch models. https://www.amazon.com/Memoqueen-Reills-Compatible-Brother-Ptouch/dp/B0CJT6RLWN
