We needed to upgrade our Roku unit. We had been using an older version that was about 3 years old and on one of the apps, we would get into a program and it would break for commercials. At the end of the 1st or 2nd one it would freeze up and we would have to get out of the show. We could then go back into it but the system would only allow us to start from the very beginning meaning that we would have to fast forward to where it left off. This new one has voice search and volume controls on it which makes it much easier to use and eliminates the need of having to go from one remote to another just to adjust the volume. Great unit.

First this has volume buttons and a mute on the right side which totally eliminates any need for the original TV remote. The Roku remote turns on the TV and the Roku. The remote works great. The receiver/roku device doesn’t overheat like the cheaper models do. They seem to time out after two years whether you use them or not. (My experience with three.) The only quiky thing this moel does is it disconnects from the wifi signal when it is turned off. So you turn on the TV and the Roku starts. It is not connected to the internet until you see the TIME displayed in the top righ corner. So if you try to select your local service, Roku, or any other streaming service it will tll you you are not connected: go ahead or connect to the internet… It is a little annoying but it is not a big deal. I like Roku a lot. I have bought Apple TV and I am not a fan. I’ve had other smart tv streaming boxes and TVs and Roku seems like the best to me. I do have their Ultra unit on another tv and yes, you do unplug it once in a while to reset it’s two watt brain and then it’s happy again. It is an easy to use and understand system and it is easy to fix if there is a little glitch… and they do happen. For the money this is an easy choice. The service is free unless you buy five. (I don’t know why they care…) I would only be happier if they made a DVR model since that is how I really like to watch TV.

I’ve been using Roku for years. Set up was just fine, no problems. Roku was able to transfer all my apps from my account to this device, which is nice. This new Express 4K+ loads apps much faster than my older Roku stick.BUT the remote in my box has different buttons than the one pictured. Netflix, Disney+, Roku, and ViX. ViX is a Spanish-language-only app. The box does not show shortcut buttons, so I guess it’s just going to be random what buttons you get. ViX isn’t even on the box as a featured app. Luckily, the Roku itself is in English by default, so I am not returning this.

The set up was easy and the quality was superb.

Dumped cable with their ridiculous fees – kept the WiFi and opted for You Tube TV. Well my Samsung TV is a bit older and can’t add You Tube TV to the app hub.Did some research and opted for this out of all the Roku reviews and works great!Easy set-up, controls the on/off of the TV thus eliminating a pile of remotes. Created a Roku account free – good to go.Little irritated I had to buy another device when the plan was to save money, however heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new TV!

Even though I have an LG Smart tv, it sometimes lags or freezes when I streamed Paramount, so I got this and it’s been wonderful. Sharp picture, very little (if any) “wheel spinning” on the screen, the remote with voice control works well, love the Roku channel. HOWEVER I DID ENCOUNTER ONE THING–after 2 months, my HBO Max shows would stop saving to the ‘Continue Watching’ on my account. I had to make a note of what season, what episode I was watching. I googled the problem, discovered I was not alone. (This only happened on my Roku, not on the other devices I streamed MAX on.) I did soft resets, hard resets, changed my MAX account password, the only thing that solved the issue was doing a Factory Reset of my Roku. It wasn’t bad to do, and I was back up & running and my shows were being saved again, all in 20 minutes. But I’m sure I’ll have to do a factory reset again at some point.

I have DIRECTV, but there’s so much junk on it, there’s almost nothing I want to watch. The Roku device was very easy to install, and between the Roku channels, and the paid ones I’m using, I have a whole New World of TV. Live shows, documentaries, nature programs, International TV through MHZ, Paramount, for example. For me, this is so much better. The only thing I’m missing is the NBA, but that’s because I simply can’t afford to subscribe. Otherwise frankly, I am extremely happy that I sprung for the Roku. More expensive models could be needed if you have a huge TV, which requires more bandwidth, or were trying to fuel a house full of TVs (same) but this Roku model is just great for one normal TV. Now, Roku runs on a hardwired, or wireless signal, so if I had to depend on wireless signal strength from a tower, I would probably need a much stronger signal receiver. But for now this is just great. Have been using it for about four months, all is good.

I have owned just about every Roku device out there and have liked them all. However, none of the ones I’ve been using lately is able to pair with my Vizio TV to control on/off and volume up/down and mute. They identify the Vizio but won’t pair up with it. I know that a lot of people have this problem. I tried all kinds of different codes. This afternoon I dug out this Express 4K I bought a few years ago and thought I’d give it a try. Lo and behold, it paired up with the first Vizio code. I’m using a more recent Remote Pro with it. So the difference is in the box, not in the remote. Some say that older Roku units had better control capabilities than newer (or software updated) ones do, and it seems that this is true. So if your Roku is doing everything you want it to do, it may be wise to decline updates.
