As someone always on the lookout for ways to upgrade my home with smart devices, I recently invested in the SwitchBot Blind Tilt Motorized Blinds, and let me tell you, they’re a game-changer.First things first, the setup was a breeze. I consider myself tech-savvy, but I think anyone could handle this. All you need is the SwitchBot Hub Mini (if you don’t already have one) and the SwitchBot app installed on your phone. The app guides you through the simple process of connecting the blind motor to your smartphone via Bluetooth. It took me less than 10 minutes, and I was good to go.What I love most about these motorized blinds is the versatility they offer. I can control the tilt of my blinds remotely, whether I’m at home or away. The convenience of adjusting them with just a few taps on my phone is a godsend. Plus, the solar-powered feature is fantastic. I don’t have to worry about constantly recharging or changing batteries, making it an eco-friendly and hassle-free solution. The motorized function works like a charm. The blinds move smoothly, and I haven’t encountered any issues with the motor getting stuck or making excessive noise. It’s a quiet operator, which is crucial when you’re aiming for a serene home environment. However, there are a few considerations. The Bluetooth range can sometimes be a bit limited, so if you have a larger home, you might need to place the SwitchBot Hub strategically to ensure a strong connection. Also, the app interface, while functional, could be more intuitive and aesthetically pleasing. I’d love to see more options for scheduling or integrating it with other smart home systems. In conclusion, the SwitchBot Motorized Blinds have been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. If you’re looking for an affordable way to add convenience and a touch of modernity to your living space, these blinds are definitely worth considering. The ease of control, coupled with the solar-powered feature, makes them a practical choice for anyone seeking a more automated and energy-efficient home or someone who has mobility difficulties.

This remote blind was easy to set up and install, but after some use, the 3M tape is failing to keep the unit on. A mounting clip that snaps onto the blind frame would work a lot better. Double sided tape doesn’t have enough holding power from my experience. Otherwise this device works great. I may purchase more in the near future as I use this one on the center window blind of my bay window. Setting up schedules on the APP makes this remote blind great as setting up how much the blind is open during the time of day keeps the view and the room comfortable all day and having it automatically open in the morning and self adjust during the day then close at the desired time is great. The included solar panel keeps the battery charged so no worries about having to change/charge batteries.

Took me about 45 minutes to install since I went step by step very carefully so as not to mess up. If I purchase additional Blind Tilts the installation will probably take only 10 minutes. The product performs exactly as described. It changes the blind angles fairly slowly but speed really isn’t needed anyway and slower movement will hopefully translate to longer trouble free lifespan. Initially I hooked up the supplied solar panel but the Blind Tilt didn’t recognize it. I did some research and theorized that the Blind Tilt firmware was at version 1.2 while the latest version 2.0 was needed to support the solar panel and associated light sensor. I could not find anyway to upgrade the firmware so I submitted a support request to Wonderlabs. The very next morning I discovered that there was a firmware upgrade awaiting installation into my Blind Tilt. I went through the upgrade and now the solar panel is charging the unit (when there’s bright enough sunlight). Overall the Blind Tilt is working great! Discovering that the firmware was out of date was disappointing but Wonderlabs took care of that literally overnight. I’ve set the unit up to automatically open every morning and close every evening so I’ll see over the next few weeks if it performs reliably and also if the solar panel keeps the unit charged. I’ve added the Alexa integration and that also works great. I’ve mounted it to a six foot wide by five foot high window blind that is about four years old. The Blind Tilt gear motor did not seem to be “laboring” at all when it went from down close to up close, so I think it could handle even larger blinds if it needed to. A note about the process of mounting the solar panel to your window via the self adhesive pad. I cleaned the glass with the supplied alcohol wipe then peeled the backing off of the self adhesive strip and began to position the panel towards the top of the window. I inadvertently slightly touched the pad to the glass while moving the panel into position and it stuck instantly and I couldn’t pull it back off (without risking damage) so the solar panel is mounted at an angle a few inches from where I panned to place it. Oh well!!! 🙂 So use some extra care when you reach this step.If it survives my “trial” period I will probably purchase several more since I have the same Horizontal Blinds on every window in my house! It’s appears to be a well designed, sturdy product that is providing a lot for it’s relatively low price. I will update if things change!

Having invested around five years in smart home technology, I’m always on the lookout for devices that blend functionality with aesthetics. The Switchbot Tilt caught my eye, and I decided to introduce one to my living room setup. The setup instructions were straightforward, making the onboarding process smooth. I did encounter a small hiccup with the app during a stage where it insisted on assigning a room to the device without providing the option to do so. A few app restarts later, the issue cleared up, and I was back on track. A minor glitch, likely to be resolved in a future update. The real charm of the Switchbot Tilt is its solar recharge feature. It neatly aligns with my preference for a wire-free aesthetic, almost eliminating the need for any visible wires to power the device. This feature keeps my space looking clean and clutter-free.Initially, I had a bit of a challenge figuring out how to reattach the valance to conceal some of the hardware. A small workaround with L brackets did the trick, although an integrated solution would have been the cherry on top.Impressed by the performance and the clean look it afforded, what started as a single-device trial quickly turned into a multiple-device setup across my home. The Switchbot Tilt has certainly earned its place in my smart home ecosystem and comes highly recommended for anyone looking to enhance their living space both functionally and aesthetically. I’ve shared my findings with friends who share a similar interest in home automation, and they, too, are considering bringing the Tilt into their abodes.

I have 15 window blinds that we open in the morning shortly after dawn and close at dusk. Most of the blinds are easy to reach, but for half of them we have to reach over couches to open and close. A minor inconvenience but it adds up over time.I bought a Switchbot out of curiosity and because it was on sale. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it works. The instructions were very thorough to the point where it was a bit confusing at first, but better to have more information than not enough. Adding the device in the proprietary app and the Home app was easy, and setting up the timers and open/close angles was a breeze.Whether it’s practical to buy 14 more devices for each of the remaining blinds is another question.

Ok, so can we just say this is the coolest invention of the 21st century? I’m disabled, and I was looking into getting a service dog to help me with stuff like opening blinds, turning odd lights, etc. Then came wifi light bulbs and my life was changed forever. One day I thought, “I wonder if there’s such thing as a wifi blind opener?” 🤔 Enter Switchbot! I just have to say that I LOVE this product! It does work fine over bluetooth, but after a few weeks I bought the hub. Now I can have Google open or close my blinds from anywhere in the world (or or the comfort of my own bed, wheelchair, or bathroom floor. Lol. It doesn’t get cooler than this!Oh, and they’re super easy to install. I’m disabled, and it was still easy. Granted, I can stand up for short bursts which is necessary for this product installation, but honestly the hardest part was pressing the stickers into place and holding for 30 seconds.Buy it, and get the hub. You will not be disappointed!

TL;DR: Customer support is excellent. Make sure to update firmware to v2.0 to 1) create groups of up to 4 devices and 2) get better solar charging. If your blind tilt mechanism seems to get stiff every 1/2 or full turn when the tilt rod is operated fully vertical, be careful as the device might struggle. Read on for details.First, the initial bad experience:I purchased one of these along with a SwitchBot Remote to be able to control my 2 office blinds at the same time. It didn’t work because I wasn’t able to create a group of devices as the feature wasn’t implemented, so I ended up having to purchase a Mini Hub to create a scene and assign the scenes to the remote buttons. I left a review in the Remote product page stating that the fact that it can only control a single action for a single device for each button should’ve been clear from the start.Customer support reaches outStella, from SwitchBot customer support, reached out and sent me a guide explaining how to assign multiple device actions to a single button. The guide she sent wasn’t really helpful, but through that I was able to find another guide that stated I needed to upgrade to firmware 2.0 in order to enable the group function, and that (at the time) had to be requested to SwitchBot support). I took the opportunity to provide some more feedback related to other issues, and they were very interested in getting more information. The exchange was really helpful.Solar chargingWith the firmware I had at the time (v1.2), solar charging reached a maximum of level 5 for any of my blinds, which are not exposed to direct sunlight, but do get a lot of natural light regardless. The device will not fully replenish the battery below level 6 lighting, although it will extend the battery life anyways – this was explained to me quite thoroughly by customer support, which was very good.Comes firmware v2.0I got the prompt to update to v2.0 today, and I immediately noticed that the lighting level was way higher for all my blinds (they did mention some changes they were making to their algorithm in an email they sent me), so now they’re all above level 6. The group feature is also available, so one can create a group of up to 4 blinds to be operated all at the same time, so getting a Remote is also worth it.Tilt hook issuesThe only pending issue I have is related to the format of my tilt hooks (the hook at the end of the tilt wand that connects to the tilting mechanism). When operated fully vertical, like the device does, they’ll get really stiff every 1/2 or full turn. This has nothing to do with the SwitchBot device, to be clear. But it might prevent it from operating properly nevertheless. I’m still looking for a solution, and I think that this product might work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YG3625O/Either this or somehow making the hook a bit flatter at the top, to avoid it from getting stuck. It’s an issue related to how torque is transmitted from the rod to the tilting mechanism when operated vertically, which puts them both at an angle from each other.Bottom line:I recommend you manually operate your tilt rod vertically to see if it tends to jam every 1/2 or full turn. If that happens, perhaps try getting the adapter I mentioned above or replacing your tilt rod before attempting to install this device, as it’ll avoid frustration. Customer support is excellent, so you got that working in your favor.

Not great. Keeps bending the wand, but works pretty decent so far. I like it. I just wish something could lower and raise the blinds, but this will have to do. Oh, doesn’t connect to wifi, need their hub for that I think. But you can put it on schedule even if you’re not home.

I used this product on vertical blinds, even though this is not what it’s supposed to be used for. It works really well in spite of this. It makes a little bit of noise when operating but is not obnoxious, however will wake a light sleeper. Unless I’m missing something it requires the SwitchBot Hub to be connected with Apple HomeKit and Siri, however still has full functionality otherwise. I love having the light from the sunrise help wake me up.

This is probably the best Christmas gift I gave my 82-year-old aunt. She loves opening and closing her blinds with a remote, and having them open/close on a schedule. More importantly, she never has to charge them.
