I must admit the design is what first caught my eye but the combined coffee grinder, coffee maker, and thermo carafe have exceeded my expectations. With new kitchen, I needed to consolidate counter top appliances. Replacing coffee maker and coffee bean grinder with one appliance was a first step. My better half sleeps late every morning while I start my morning around 6am so having a thermo carafe helps. Performance has been flawless and the many optional settings helps to meet all our coffee needs. We conducted a coffee taste test by preheating thermo with hot water, using “Gold” setting, 200F, 10-cups using Starbucks French Roast. Best pot of coffee we have had from any machine that we have owned. We also confirmed that thermo keeps coffee drinking hot for 2-hrs as described. Web app features that allow you to control everything and to save 4-favorites has been very useful. I have saved 10-cup Gold and 5-cup thermo preheat as examples. Water reservoir that holds 75oz (1.5 full pots) allows me to run the thermo preheat, dump water and then run the 10-cup gold without having to refill the water…great engineering. Having this beautiful Cafe design that matches our Cafe refrigerator was a bonus. Love the stainless steel with copper accents. Highly recommend.

We have tried four coffeemakers in the last couple of years and just couldn’t get a good tasting cup of coffee. We tried every organic bean and ground coffee out there too. We started doing our research and found out about the SCA’s Gold Cup standard. We tested our coffeemaker and the temperature of the water missed the optimal 200-205 degrees by a mile (160ish). We did our research and knew this Cafe Specialty Grind and Brew was the best rated for our needs but thought we could settle with a cheaper one from SCA’s list. We fired that cheaper option up and it barely hit 170 degrees so we sent it back and ponied up for this one. Our very first cup made it all worthwhile. The Gold setting defaults at 200 degrees and if you want it hotter, you can customize the temp. Any coffeemaker that doesn’t hit 200 degrees is never going to open up and extract the flavors from the coffee. This one does and the fact that it was the only one on the SCA list that grinds beans makes it even fresher. It’s intuitive and it doesn’t release steam and destroy our cabinet uppers. We bought Amazon’s Asurion 4yr warranty just to give us more peace of mind for such a device with so many bells and whistles. We are very happy. It’s worth it.

I have been looking for a replacement for my 2016 Cuisinart grind and brew for over a year. There just hasn’t been an offering that was better than what I already had. Until now. I love this machine. I have had it for a month and use it every day. It is perfect. I like having full control over the brewing process. This unit allows you to adjust grind, brew temp, bloom time, boldness. It can brew into single serve mugs or into the thermal carafe. Both work well. It just makes great coffee. Reusable filter baskets are durable and easy to clean. Water is easy to refill because you can take the reservoir to the sink rather than having to fill the carafe and dump it in the machine. Looks great on the counter. Flat black with copper accents. Very unique beautiful design. Five Stars!

I have been looking for a long time for an attractive all-in-one coffee maker like this one. I had it already for a few months and it’s been doing the job just fine. After downloading the app, I was able to program it. Cleaning is easy, although be aware of the plastic seal as they can easily come off. The water tank has a plastic seal that was a little tricky to stay in place when installing the filter. Other than that, the quality seems good for far. As for the taste, you have to play the setting until you find the right balance.

From the sleek design to very impressive performance this is hands down the best coffee maker I have owned.Especially enjoy the ability to start pot while still upstairs in the morning, or simply turn off the grinder and I have temp controlled water for tea at night.I do not find the noise level of the grinder to be anywhere near annoying. It provides the texture desired with an easy knob control. All in all, wish I would have purchased this years ago, but I will have years of excellent coffee to look forward to 🙂

It took me a while to decide on getting this but since it’s SCA certified I thought might as well have it it has a grinder since mine got ruined, and I had my first cut this morning and it was gold setting 200° and it was hot and it’s delicious and the grinder isn’t that loud. I love this coffee maker so much hopefully it’ll hold up we shall see.

This looks better than any coffee maker I have ever owned and makes a better cup of coffee than any previous machine. Can’t beat this at all.

The coffee is great, which is of course the most important thing. Good strength and odor and taste at more or less the default “Gold” settings for a couple different roasts and varietals I have tried. It’s as good coffee as I have had from an automatic drip coffee maker, and much better than almost all, at least to my tastes. I am not using paper filters. There are common complaints here about leakage so that must be a thing — I can’t get it to leak or leave water places I don’t want it, using the thing without overly cautious, over a week. Enough people are saying it here that it must be a thing, it just isn’t, at all, in my experience so either they’ve corrected it or the units are variable. One possibility is that since I am using RO-filtered water anyway, I’m not inserting the charcoal filter, which could only worsen the water quality. The pot is quite cleverly engineered and keeps the coffee good and hot for quite long. The grinder is a surprise — I had a Breville “grind control” for a long time and was annoyed that one had to assist it with shunting the beans from the hopper into the grinder; the amount ground could otherwise be quite variable so there was no point in using it on a timer because you had to be there anyway. That’s not the case with the Cafe even though the hopper looks the same; it feeds itself beans just superbly.Cleaning is less than ideal. Every time I have used it there are quite a lot of grounds atop the filter basket and on the shower head. How they get there, looking at the mechanism, I can’t quite fathom, but there they are and it is a bit of work to clean them out. They do seem to stay contained there, however, so they don’t get all over your counter. The space behind the showerhead seems to stay pretty wet too, which only affects you when you’re cleaning out the grinder, but, it sucks to clean out the grinder. Also on cleaning out the grinder — since it seems highly improbable that you managed to exactly use all the beans from the last grind, you have to get beans out when you sweep the burrs, and that kind of sucks. The Breville’s slightly different construction enabled you to remove the hopper so grabbing that handful of beans was easy (although maybe that was the reason for the other issues with the Breville grinder) — with the Cafe it is a real pain removing the unground beans to clean the burrs. There are more customizable options if I connect the thing to the internet, but I have no desire to do that. You can work it pretty well and do most of what you will ever want to do with the keypad.Bottom line though, the coffee is just spectacular and merits the five stars, and the grinder works well and consistently, at least on my machine. That’s true both brewed into the carafe or using the single-cup filter and setting.
