I admit that I was on the fence initially, but I can now confidently say that this portable AC has exceeded my expectations. Setup is definitely a bit involved at first but, once you have everything where it needs to be, you will be glad that you took the time to get it done. As others may have mentioned, there is certainly a level of noise that the device creates. It does not run quietly, nor is it deafening. That said, it absolutely cools very well, provided you follow the installation instructions to the letter. The most I had to do, as far as upkeep, was clean the filter when the indicator turned on.All in all, a very good portable AC, and absolutely worth the money. I would recommend getting the warranty as well, just in case.

Perfect for cooling down a room when you don’t need to cool down the whole house. We use it in our bedroom. Easy to set up easy to use. Not to loud and it works fast. Very happy with this purchase.

I love this thing. I recently moved to a desert climate and the AC unit provided with the apartment just blows warm air around. Rather than going through the hoops with the landlord and then risking the rent getting hiked I just bought this puppy and now I can take it to wherever apartment I move to next and always have a nice cool place to live. It does make noise but it’s not more noise than running fan on full blast which is what I would have to do if I didn’t have this. I feel the trade off of some noise is totally worth it for the comfort you get with climate control. I’m totally satisfied with this product. I’ve basically had it running 24/7 for the entire summer, it’s now almost over and there have been no problems with the unit at all, to date.My apartment is a 1 bedroom about 600sq feet or so, I keep the unit in the bedroom but cool air spills out into the living room as well. I wouldn’t say it totally cools the entire place but my room is definitely comfortable and the rest of the place is bearable. I can run a fan from the doorway of the bedroom and it pulls cool air into the other room and makes it much nicer. my electricity bill hasn’t been that high either, averaging about $160 a month for the last 3 months. Before the AC unit the bill was about 70-80 a month so not that much more cost after adding this unit. as far as portability is concerned it is portable but the window attachment kind of gets configured and it is a pain to reconfigure it to move it around to another sized window … you could purchase a second window adapter and that would make moving it a breeze.

I am so mad about this unit. It would work great and does until the hoses fall out. The hose/connector design is ridiculous. I have had it happen several times that the living room is getting hotter and hotter. I finally realize the hose has come completely out and is laying on the floor blowing HOT air into the living room. The plastic pieces that go into the unit, and into the window panel are the same diameter as the hose. I’ve tried shoving it in a million times and it simply does not go in far enough to stay secure. Today, in the middle of the heat wave, it happened again. Grrrrrr. Finally I decided to try and tape it. Sweat pouring down my face, I took it all apart, tried my best to shove the hose into the plastic connectors, and duct taped around the seam. I’d like to know how the heck a hose the same size as the connector is supposed to work? I am so sad and mad because I would have given this unit 5 stars for keeping my living room comfortable in this bloody heat wave we’re having up here in the PNW, but the hose/connector design makes it worse than not having it at all when HOT air is blowing into the living room! Maybe I’m an idiot and there is a trick or maybe I should have read reviews to see how others deal with it.Edit to add: Very kind cia replied to my Q in the Q&A and explained exactly how to attach the hose to the plastic connectors. Now that it is property in place, it will not fallout. It was my fault for just hooking it up from watching a friend hook it up last summer… I should have read the directions as it’s clearly spelled out. I change my rating to 5 stars. This thing is not going to cool an entire house (1200 sq ft open floor plan) but it keeps the living room bearable in these extreme heat days we’re having up here in PNW. If I had a way to close off the living room, it would work even better. If I had space in my bedroom for another one I would get one.

I had to move into my parents house in Phoenix to help take care of them when my mother hurt herself, and my father is insane, and doesn’t believe in using the AC until June >.> I’m in a small room that faces the afternoon sun, and get boiling hot, even if the house AC is running because it also only gets a sideline offshoot duct that brings in almost no air. I looked at a very small Midea and a Frigidaire, both because of their compact size and lower power usage (I was concerned running my computer *and* an AC unit together in here) but settled on this guy after reading the reviews, and having several other LG products. I also liked that this was *not* made in China, unlike every other model I looked at.I know this is a very tiny room it’s in, smaller than its recommended footage, but with the sun beating down and being 96 degrees out already, its capable of getting the room down to seventy degrees, within 15 minutes. With a computer and 65inch TV baking away. That’s no joke, this thing is a beast. Yes, it’s a little loud, a little larger than I was hoping for, and I wish I had a real ‘low’ setting, but for what it can do, I’m alright with that. Luckily it’s dryer than good British comedy here, so I don’t have to worry about water collection. Also, it *can* make an awful racket with the compressor running if the plastic housing is shifted just enough to make it touch the frame and vibrate, but I put a little piece of soft foam just under the lip of it on the bottom, and makes absolutely no noise now. Well, other than its normal operating blower fan drone. When it first did that, I was upset thinking it was a mechanical problem, and I’d have to deal with a heavy return. Then I realized it went away completely if I held a hand to the plastic housing on the front, and it was just the vibration. All in all, as long as it keeps working and doesn’t set the house on fire in my sleep, I’m happy with it.

Don’t expect these smaller units to be quiet. Consider it’s output as “white noise — it’s a level, balanced blowing type sound. Initially, it may sound loud, but it’s perfect for blocking out sounds like the next door dog or loud neighbors OR especially when a dog barks at 2 am. The Unit works as fan only and has a DRY OPTION which appears to be the dehumidifier. It comes with a remote control, batteries included. It’s a perfect unit for me. My room is usually the warmest in the house. So, when it’s 80-82 degrees during the day in December in Texas, my room bakes in the sun. Simply opening the window does not cool the room temp, which settles around 78-79 degrees. Open windows are disappointing; breezes are rare events, especially in my direction. A window fan blows in my face and requires me to take an expectorant to clear the phlegm build up in my throat. The AC air flow offers a swinging type of top vent that can either be set to blow air in a fixed direction or can be allowed to sewing up and down dirtributing air more evevnly. I would recommend this as an “economy” level purchase. FI’m assuming that more expensive units are quieter. I find this white noise rather relaxing. Forthe Price – it’s a BUY!

It works for one room. Used it a lot over the summer. If it’s on high it’s a little noisy.

So happy I bought this thing. I have a fifth wheel in Arizona and the two AC”s weren’t quite enough to handle the 118° heat. but having this guy was enough to make life okay.

It did what we needed….and due to climate change we will keep it in the house through the winter.

When I first got this portable cooler I was kind of worried that the tank would fill up quickly, but I’ve been using it over 2 months in this hot weather without having to empty it. Even when I recently checked to see if any water had built up, I didn’t see a drip. I haven’t used the dry function, so I wouldn’t doubt that would fill up the tank fast.Setting it up is kind of a pain, but worth it in the long run.
