Important to know for anyone purchasing this air conditioner. It must be upright for 24 hours for coolant to settle back down prior to startup! It weighs over 60 lbs so when mine was delivered to my door the Amazon driver had it on his shoulder so it was laying flat. It blows ice cold but doesn’t project the cold air like a window unit would do. Since I live in an RV and I cannot use a window unit so this is a good substitute. RVs are not insulated like houses so it hasn’t been able to cool my space according to the square footage advertised. If you sit fairly close you can feel the nice cold air but 10 feet away you cannot. I supplement it with a tower fan that sucks in the cold air from the AC unit and blows it through the fan. Makes a world of difference. In all fairness to the AC If I lived in an area that had average summers it would probably work just fine but I live in Texas and this summer has been brutal. Every day since this AC was delivered (almost a month) it has been 100+, which would put a strain on any AC. All in all I’m very happy with the unit and it has performed perfectly so far in spite of the heat. This unit has 2 air vents. One vent takes IN air from the outside while the other blows hot air OUT.. On the intake Vent I advise putting some type of filter over the intake to keep dust and bugs from getting into the unit. The unit doesn’t come with a filter so I just bought a cheap AC/furnace filter and cut it to size. Amazon sells filters for them but I chose not to spend the extra $20 or so when the one I made works and I can get about 6 out of one AC filter. This unit is also a heater so time will tell on how well it works.

Read other peoples reviews so I was a little worried. But I really needed an AC unit. so I bit the bullet cause it was on sale. bad thing is when I got the unit there was some cosmetic damage the coating on part of the AC unit was not done well. so we complained to Amazon and they gave us 40 GC YES!!! so we were happy. Performance wise I think it just depends on where you live. I live in California NO HUMIDITY!!!!! it works great. ICE cold air. we have a room about 20ish ft x 20 ish ft and works great. The AMP is 9ish so that is great also but when running these type of machines pay attention cause it could trip your breaker. Bought a 3 year warranty just to be safe. but ultimately LOVE this machine use it every day no problems. Noise wise come on man… its a portable AC unit its gonna make some noise. if you don’t like install Central air or live in the heat. I have owned a portable AC unit before and this one is quieter in comparison.

Just got my unit. The cooling works awesome and cools my room really fast as it should being a dual hose unit that doesn’t suck in room air for cooling the condenser, and I also tried the heat mode just to see if it works and that works great too blowing space heater-like hot air out the vent while the exhaust hose was ice cold. The noise levels were also far lower than I even expect it so although there’s always a whooshing noise as long as the fans are on, the compressor itself is extremely smooth and quiet even when starting up and cutting off. I think that I can sleep through the noise quite easily so this unit is perfect for bedroom use unlike other noisier portable air conditioning units. Only complaint is that I wish the louver on the vent has an auto swing function to keep distributing the air instead of just a manual hand-opened vent. Otherwise, highly recommended product.EDIT:It’s been almost a month since my first unit arrived now, and yes I got 2 units eventually since I’m so impressed by it. The compressor is definitely much quieter than other portable units and so much so that I can sleep comfortably without it waking me up at night, its definitely quieter than the condensing and evaporator fan which is extremely surprising. Also the units I have managed to heat my room to comfortable levels even when the outside is about 38F so far and my room is an extension so it has terrible insulation. When its hot out it has also kept my room cold with no problems. Appreciate the drain pump too as because of that it will auto drain the condensate when continuously run in heat mode so that I do not have to empty it myself, definitely want that feature on a heat pump. I’m extremely impressed by this PAC that I would go to say it’s the be all end all of PAC units, I’m even more surprised that (currently) it’s priced for only $349! If you’re looking for a PAC that can cool and heat then this is it!.

Heating and cooling works great. Other two hose units often have noticeable negative pressure because they are poorly sealed internally. This unit is very well sealed other than some small openings. Quietest unit I owned, easy to program, decent hose accessories, with no vibration noises as of yet. Vibrations are well isolated and don’t transfer into the laminate flooring like my other units.Only drawback I notice currently is the condenser side ventilation. The exhaust fan isn’t very strong (I suppose to reduce noise) so it doesn’t push the exhaust far enough away from the intake using the stock bracket. Running at 24C internal temperature, 26C external temperature, the intake hose and exhaust hose is 39C and 42C respectively. My other Haier unit maintains 29C and 45C on the hoses.Separating the intake hose to another window 10ft away improved efficiency and performance noticably.Updated Jan 2020:Works great as above, except in the recent cold snap. The exhaust coils would freeze up and heat output is reduced dramatically. It appears this unit does not have a defrost cycle to maintain performance in cold weather. Doesn’t affect my score as it does not advertise the unit to have this feature.

I was able to keep a 2800 sq ft house comfortable in a 110°F heatwave with this Whynter portable air conditioner (+ a small bedroom unit). I used a couple hacks to get the most out of it (see picture). I’m pleasantly surprised how much better it performed than the 12,000 BTU single hose portable AC it replaced.Earlier in the year it was used as a heater. It performed perfectly, supposedly is about 3 times more energy efficient that electric heaters. The built in drain pump proved very useful in heater mode to drain the condensation, much better than crawling around on hands and knees manually draining. It is the quietest Portable AC I’ve owned, even quieter than a brand that has ‘Quiet’ as part of it’s name.I’m not crazy about the color, but that’s minor compared to having good design/features.It seems to be a very well thought out product. Hopefully it will stand the test of time.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I consider this product one of my best purchases ever. The company sent me a new remote control when the original did not work and since then, it has performed excellent. be it heat or AC, it is very reliable. I got mine back in 2017 and still runs great.

The windows on my home just aren’t the right height and width for window ACs, we had 2 LG portable air conditioners and they served us well for the first season of each use then they performed sub par. The last LG I had, which was the newest, the internal tank would need to be emptied every day and sometimes would shutoff during really hot days. I live in Long Island where we have really hot and humid summers I decided to take a chance on the Whynter was also looking at the Honeywell. I figured I would go with the one with a pump because I at least would be able to run it without emptying. I have had it setup since June at has been running like a champ. On the hot days high 90s and evening touching 100 the room is extremely comfortable. On those days I run the AC almost all day to stay a top of the heat and by the nightime after much of the heat disapated this AC gets the temperature down so much that my wife sleeps with a down comforter in the summer time it’s cold. If u have problem cooling your room and a window AC won’t fit this is the best buy it I won’t be disappointed.

Not having multi zone A.C. at home and realizing that the pandemic was soon going to have me working from home in a literal sweatshop, I purchased this portable A.C. unit. It isn’t quite as portable as I thought it would be but with a little ingenuity it generally does a good job in a room that can often get *very* hot. The room I’m using it in has many challenges. A stairwell that leads into the room near the only window so I put a room divider near that to prevent the cool air from immediately dropping, as well as a strategically placed fan to pick up and redirect the cool air to get further into the room… if the hoses were longer I might not have had to employ these measures but 2020 is the year of making due. I have no complaints other than the compressor is a little loud but not so loud that I have difficulty on Zoom or conference calls. The remote is finicky- I might have to press it two or four times to get it to turn on or off. The air is cool and that is ok with me.

Bought this to heat a small room over a garage that is super hot in the summer. This avoided the expense of installing a mini-split which would have cost upward of $7K. It was the perfect solution. It operates exactly as advertised and is quiet. My partner is an online streamer who can run it while streaming. It cools effectively and quickly and quietly.

I’ve been using this unit in my office for over a year and a half, every day. In the winter I use it to circulate air and create whitenoise, in the summer I use it to supplement the central ac due to the fact that my office has a significant amount of computer equipment that generates heat and throws off the equilibrium of the thermostat for the rest of the rooms on the same floor.I have placed it on a drip pan, but never have had the unit leak; it has sometimes pumped out water through the drain hose though (not often in the time I have had it), but make sure the drain hose is connected to something that can receive the water and be emptied when necessary.
